Purpose and Goals

The goal of Sailorville is to give sailors worldwide a better tool than they have ever had before to connect and share knowledge and dreams.

Using powerful content management software enriched with Web 2.0 functions such as user created groups, Sailorville allows sailboat sailors to connect around specific or general interests.

At Sailorville, you can create a public group for all sailors from your local harbor or who go to a favorite cruising ground. A race boat can create a private group accessible only to its members as a quick and easy way to communicate.

Traditional (well, traditional since the 1980s or so) BBS style forums provide another way to communicate and connect.

Anyone who wants can have their own blog, and their own photo gallery. No charge.

Your friends and shipmates can log into your personalized homepage and leave comments in your guestbook.

The Sailorville Crew

Sailorville.com is the project of lifelong sailors.

From childhood, brother and sister team Ray and Lecy Campbell sailed small boats on lakes near their home in East Tennessee. On occasion the family went on sailing vacations in the Bahamas and similar warm climes, further invigorating their love of sailing.

In adulthood, each continued sailing, principally on Lake Michigan out of Belmont Harbor in Chicago.

Lecy works in the sailing industry, running the chandlery for the best sailboat boatyard in the Chicago area. Ray runs and operates web sites, and his trying to persuade his long suffering wife to try living aboard in a warmish clime.

Sailing for us is a love, and this site to empower sailors is a labor of love.

Welcome aboard.
